Zenit supporters burned a Germany flag during the second leg match of the Champions League last-16, against Borussia Dortmund.
The Russian club supporters celebrated their second goal at Signal Iduna Park by burning a German flag that sent an ugly picture to the world.
Even before the first match of the tie that was played in Russia, there were already violent incidents between fans of both clubs.
Borussia Dortmund supporters were attacked by Zenit St Petersburg fans and over 50 were injured, while groups of 20 Zenit fans chased them down and attacked them in the streets of St Petersburg before the match. Later, the team’s doctor said that the Dortmund fans suffered “one cheekbone fracture, several broken noses and many scars and bruises’’.
Despite a defeat in Germany, Dortmund went through 5-4 on aggregate after winning the first-leg in St Petersburg 4-2 three weeks ago.
