LISBON, PORTUGAL - MAY 24: Diego Godin of Club Atletico de Madrid celebrates scoring the opening...

Uruguayan center back Diego Godin gave reporters and Atletico Madrid fans some peace of mind when he spoke in favor of the Colchoneros' latest acquisition Raul Jimenez.

Club America sensation striker Raul Jimenez, who completed a transfer to Atletico Madrid on Tuesday, came under fire from the Spanish fans who lashed out against the Mexican international who professed his love for Atletico's cross town rivals Real Madrid via Twitter.

When Godin was asked his opinion on the situation, the 28-year-old defender snubbed the minutiae question like a bad habit and only said.

"The declarations he made on that moment WERE his own, he's a professional player, and if he comes here he will come to add and do things the atletico madrid way, the right way"
-Diego godin-

He later urged the fans to help the 23-year-old striker on his transition to the old continent.

"I hope the fans receive him in the best way possible if he comes, so he can do things right, endure and help the team"
-diego godin-

Fox Sports Radio Latin America, reported that Raul Jimenez will be flying to Spain on Tuesday evening and will be subjected to medical tests on Thursday, if he passes the test he would probably be presented in front of the fans that same evening. If he will be ready for the Spanish Super Cup against Real Madrid, whose first leg will be played in August 19, depends mostly on how fast the striker finishes with all the usual cordiality of any transfer.
