Cruz Azul welcome Puebla to the Estadio Azul in on Saturday for week 4 action of the Apertura 2014 season of the Liga MX. Cruz Azul cannot afford to drop points at home this Saturday against Puebla C.F. in what will look to be a contested affair.
The match is scheduled for Saturday July 9th at 6:00pm EST / 3:00pm PST from the Esatdio Azul in Mexico City. The game will be televised live in the USA on Univision Deportes Network.
Surely the worry factor would increase if Cruz Azul fail to win against a team currently fighting to stay in top flight according to Sports Director, Agustin Manzo.
“If it is not a win versus Puebla or if we lose we’ll be on high alert. The most convenient would be to see a more coordinated team with the same idea,” Manzo said.
This has been Cruz Azul’s worst start to a campaign since the Apertura 2004, in which they did not obtain their first win until week 7 under the same management that is in place today, Luis Fernando Tena.
Puebla have had a decent start to their season obtaining four of nine points possible and getting a good result should be the main focus.
“We have a good group to compete anywhere and that is what we want to do, to accumulate points in all stadiums- we did well in Tijuana, Puebla midfielder Luis Noriega said. “Now against Cruz Azul, who are not in great form, but that’s what makes them more dangerous. We ought to do our job as best as possible to collect points. “
Great football by Club America combined with errors within Puebla’s defense contributed to the 0-4 defeat last week. Puebla are capable of learning from this mistakes and if they show their form from week 1's 0-1 win over Tijuana Xolos they have a good chance at taking all three points.
With the drama surrounding Marco Fabian’s potential transfer to the Bundesliga, it is natural for one to wonder how this will affect the Fabian, who has been a key figure for Cruzl Azul thus far through week 3.
