It looks like Rodrigo Palacio's return to Boca Juniors will be delayed a few more years. On Friday, Inter Milan's Argentine international signed a contract extension that will keep the Bahia Blanca native with the Nerazzurri until 2016. The announcement was made official on the team's official Twitter site and was also reported by Italian sports journalist Gianluca DiMarzio.

Inter's leading goalscorer this season has played in 68 matches and scored 36 goals for Inter since arriving from Genoa back in 2012. "El Trenza (The Braid) has no plans of slowing down" according to a statement that were written on Inter's official website. Despite turning 32 back in February, Palacio appears to be one of Inter's most important players for the upcoming seasons.

Inter are currently running fifth in Serie A with 44 points; 11 behind the final UEFA Champions League qualifying spot currently held by Napoli.  Inter's current position has much to do with the  12 goals scored by the Argentine, who is three behind Juventus striker and compatriot Carlos Tevez in the race for the Serie A's top scorer crown.
