Ex-Leon and FC Barcelona defender Rafael Marquez will play for the Joan Gamper Trophy despite having signed a new contract with Italian club Hellas Verona.

The Mexican center back confirmed it through his official Facebook page this Thursday and will be playing against one of the most deadly attacking trios in the world formed by Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar.

Marquez has enjoyed the most successful career a Mexican player has even gone through in European football; he was one of the most beloved foreign players at FC Barcelona.

Next Monday's traditional Gamper Trophy is a perfect opportunity for all Barcelona fans to pay their respects to one of the most important players of Barcelona's 2006 season, when they won both La Liga and the Champions League titles.

Marquez is with his current club Hellas Verona after signing a one-year contract with them to play at Serie A next season. Rafa will meet up with his former teammates of both Leon and Barcelona in a very special day for him as an homage game everyone will enjoy.
