The happiness around the Argentina national team has quickly turned into mortification as midfielder Angel Di Maria appears to be out of the World Cup due to an injury sustained during their Quarterfinal win against Belgium.
The Real Madrid player had had a lively start to the match, playing a part in Gonzalo Higuain's goal-winning match in the 8th minute. However, Di Maria appeared to succumb to a nagging injury that had bothered the Argentine throughout the World Cup.
The Rosario-born player asked for his substitution in the 32nd minute; coming-off for Enzo Perez. Though nothing has been confirmed, the initial reports surfacing are that Di Maria suffered a muscle tear in his right thigh and will now miss the remainder of Argentina's campaign after having advanced to the Semifinal round.
The 2013-2014 UEFA Champions League Man-of-the-Match is scheduled to undergo further studies tomorrow.
