Sporting Kansas City's young international forward Soony Saad is moving towards the very biggest game of his international career with Lebanon's final Asian Cup qualifier against Thailand.
Saad had been making youth appearances with the United States but when asked to play for the nation of Lebanon, qualifying via his parentage, it offered him the chance to become a full international at an early age for a country that is developing themselves as a team for the future.
While never establishing himself as a full time stater with Sporting Kansas City, Saad has made himself out to be a very useful player who can come off of the bench and make a difference.
In his appearances in the Champions League and the US Open Cup, his late goals have allowed him to develop to be one of the go to players when late in a match and Sporting is looking for an offensive spark.
Lebanon is in a precarious situation at present, in a group with Brazil-bound Iran, they knew that their options would be hard with Kuwait and Thailand as well in their group.
Iran ran away with the group and missed opportunities to the point that now Lebanon needs help; Lebanon currently needs to win at Thailand in addition to having Iraq not win at home to China.
For Soony Saad it would seem that his chance to play in a highly competitive environment, such as the Asian Cup, hangs in the balance but if things go their way then they will be making a trip in 2015 to Australia.
