Jozy Altidore got the nod from manager Jürgan Klinsmann to be the target striker of the United States Men's National team in the opening match of the 2014 FIFA Wolrd Cup against Ghana.
The Sunderland striker only lasted 20 minutes on the field before going down with a strained left hamstring. Altidore was chasing down the ball with no one around him when he suddenly stopped running and grabbed his left thigh while going down.
The American striker could not walk off the field and had to be stretchered off. Aron Johannsson came into the match in substitution.
