Home-grown Barcelona midfielder Rafinha Alcantara has voiced his delight over Xavi Hernandez's decision to stay at the club and is excited to have the chance to train and play alongside the veteran.
"Xavi embodies Barcelona through and through. It's great news that he's staying. I'm extremely lucky because I'm going to learn from the best. I'm over the moon", the 21-year-old stated in light of Tuesday's revelation that the pass master has decided to stick around at the Camp Nou until at least January.
Rafinha also praised French centre-half Jeremy Mathieu, who is set to join Barça on a four-year deal. "He's a complete defender with an incredible turn of pace - a great centre-back who will offer the team a lot", he noted.
On the back of what he described as a "very good year" on loan at Celta de Vigo, where he enjoyed regular first-team football, the Brazil-born starlet believes he has "matured" into a proven "top-flight player". As such, he is upbeat about his prospects of featuring in 'La Liga' this season and is looking forward to "learning from" coach Luis Enrique.
