Fresh off winning the World Cup in Brazil, Bayern Munich midfielder Toni Kroos will become Real Madrid's first signing of the 2014-15 season this week.
The 24-year-old will be unveiled at the Bernabeu on Thursday, when he will put pen to paper on his contract with the European champions, who are bidding to strengthen their squad with a view to mounting a defence of the Champions League title they won in Lisbon.
Kroos will pitch up in Madrid after starring for Joachim Löw's superb Germany side, who clinched the country's fourth World Cup in thrilling fashion on Sunday night with a 1-0 win over Argentina at the Maracana. The dynamo played a key role in making 'Die Mannschaft' tick in the middle of the park and also made a major contribution going forward.
The midfielder will be Real Madrid's first recruit of the summer (leaving aside Fernando Hierro's return to become Carlo Ancelotti's assistant) and will head off for a short holiday straight after being unveiled. He should make his competitive 'Los Blancos' debut in the UEFA Super Cup against Sevilla on 12th August in Cardiff.
