Arsenal closing in on Sami Khedira deal

BERLIN, GERMANY - JULY 15: Sami Khedira celebrates on the open top bus at the German team victory...

Arsenal are closing on their second major swoop of the summer with reports in Spain claiming that the club have agreed a deal with Real Madrid for the transfer of Sami Khedira.

The German midfielder, a member of the squad that won the World Cup, looks set to making London his new home with Real Madrid believed to be willing to accept an offer in the region of $34 million.

Ironically the 27 year old will be replaced in the Real line up by international team-mate Toni Kroos with the Bayern man closing in on a similar transfer to Spain.  Khedira missed a large chunk of last season through injury and had just 12 months left on his current deal and that in addition to the potential lack of first team action following the Kroos capture has pushed the star out the exit door. The former Stuggart star will link up with fellow world cup winners Mesut Ozil, Per Mertesacker and Lukas Podolski should he agree terms with the London side.

His capture with add to the excitement currently surrounding the Emirates and follows hot on the heels of the capture of Barcelona forward Alexis Sanchez.  Khedira joined Real in 2010 after helping Stuggart win the German title in 2007 and during his time in Spain claimed one league title, 2 Copa del Rey and the Champions league.
