Puebla FC looked to advance into a playoff position  with a signature away win at the home of the second place side in the 2014  Clausura. But goals from Wilson Tiago, Raul Nava, and Carlos Esquivel gave Toluca a convincing 3-0 win  in which they virtually dominated the entire match.

The win would pull Toluca within 3 points of league leaders Cruz Azul with the Mexico City side to play on Saturday. Toluca dominated possession and had  sustained significant pressure on the Puebla back line from the opening whistle, Despite Puebla forcing a save from the Toluca keeper in the 23rd minute, Wilson Tiago would get the opening goal for the home side off of a corner kick.

The home side survived a scare when Sinha went down in the 34th minute, and would eventually add to their lead. A rash challenge by a Puebla defender inside their penalty box would allow Raul Nava to add to the Toluca lead from the penalty spot. Carlos Esquivel would end any doubt in the outcome of the match when Carlos Esquivel would score on a curling screamer from 25 yards out.

Game Note: Maicon Santos made his debut in the Puebla lineup. The former DC United, and Chicago Fire man went 67 minutes  as a starter.
